Below are the possible causes of the error when your client tries to add their product to the cart.
The first thing that you need to check is the Add to Cart method set on the product in question. To check it, you need to do the following.
- On the Shopify Admin panel, open the CPB Custom Product Builder app
- In the product list, find the product in question.
- Press Settings on the left at the top, and select Add to Cart mode.
Hybrid-generated price variants
Hybrid generation mode is set by default for all new products.
If you receive an Error when trying to add the product to the cart, you need to open your product section in Shopify and search for cpb_hybrid products. Those products are generated for the add-to-cart process (you can find more information in this article), and if they are Drafted or Archieved - this will cause the Error.
There are two solutions in this case: You can either activate said cpb_hybrid products or delete them. If you choose to delete them - once someone presses the Add to Cart button - a new cpb_hybrid product will be generated.
You can also delete them from the admin panel of the CPB - Custom Product Builder app.
Pre-generated price variants
If your Add to Cart method is set to Pre-generated variants, you need to create final price variants beforehand. If you add a new option that affects the final price of the product, you must generate new variants. You can find more information in this article.
If your "Settings" button turned Red-Yellow, it likely means that some variants are missing.
In Settings, open Add to Cart mode. You will see the "Create variants" button. When you press it, the issue will be resolved.
Sales channels
The add-to-cart process can also be interrupted in case the customizable product wasn't added to the Online store Sales Channel. You can check it by opening the corresponding Product page. To do that, press the "Product" button on the top panel.
You will be redirected to the product page. Make sure that Sales channels are set correctly.
